Shoganai is my first release of 2024 after a 3-year hiatus from releasing, working on the sound I wanted to have.

Co-written with REYA - whose vocals also feature on the track - I produced and mixed the song and it was then mastered by Angus Luke at Noatune Studios.

Weaving together R&B and jazz elements with pop, the song explores the initial anger following a relationship's end, transitioning into a realisation enclosed with the Japanese term 'shoganai'. It refers to everything that cannot be avoided and for which there is nothing left to do.

As much as you try to fight it, the reality of things will always be stronger and there’s nothing wrong with accepting it and moving on. We hide from failure, but that’s when you grow, and you can only truly feel happiness once you go through difficult times and in the end you will get through it. It will make sense.
